Gill’s story
Gill (59 years old) came to us having had breast cancer 2018
and lymphoedema starting in 2020.
The full story
By the time she saw us in 2021 her right arm was already 13.4% bigger than her left. Gill had had a difficult few years and was keen to move on in her life and felt that taking control of her lymphoedema was a way forward. Gill was suitable for LVA surgery and had her surgery in May 2021. All went well and Gill had four anastomoses under local anaesthetic and went home the same day.
Gill’s recovery went very well and the volume of the limb gradually reduced over the period of the next year. Gill reduced the use of her compression garments and did not have any difficulties with rebound swelling and so has now stopped wearing compression completely.
On January 1st 2023 Gill climbed Mount Kilimanjaro as a long held ambition. Her life has completely turned around and she now feels able to conquer anything. We are delighted with this outcome for Gill. In her own words “without your surgery on my arm I don’t think I could of done this”. We are delighted for Gillian and wish her the very best in all her future adventures!
