You can send a basic referral letter, but it is useful for us to know certain things. If you can include the following it will greatly help the surgeons when assessing a patient:

• When the diagnosis of lymphoedema or lipodema was made, and who made this diagnosis
• Any investigations and results a patient may already have had ie lymphoscintigram or venous function.
• What treatments / modalities the patient has had or uses to manage the lymphoedema
• Any relevant medical history (ie cancer treatments)
• A list of medications and any allergies
